The Bees & Beyond committee will be presenting our new second grade pollinator presentation during the meeting, just as if we are in a second grade classroom!  So, come to the meeting with young hearts and avid enthusiasm, demonstrating an eager passion and keen interest, just like a second grader!  After the presentation, we will split into 3 teams for a Jeopardy game - so be prepared to demonstrate your knowledge on pollinators and bees!

This meeting will give you an opportunity to experience our second grade pollinator program - we are interested in your feedback to make the program great!  Know that some of the material was developed based on feedback from educators, as well as the Iowa educational standards.  Here is information from our marketing flyer:

The Bees & Beyond program brings engaging pollinator education directly to
2nd grade classrooms. Designed to meet Iowa educational standards, the
program uses interactive presentations, hands-on activities, and real-world
examples to help students explore plant needs, the role of bees in
ecosystems, and biodiversity in different habitats. Lessons also incorporate
math skills through data collection and graphing. Led by trained and
experienced volunteer beekeepers, Bees & Beyond inspires curiosity,
supports core curriculum goals, and fosters an early appreciation for the vital
role pollinators play in our world.

We are in need of volunteers to assist with classroom presentations during 2026.  We need your passion and dedication to make this program available to all second grade teachers - we are initiating our program in 2026, and confining requests to the counties of Polk and Story in central Iowa.  Our hope is to expand our offerings in the future!

You will also have the opportunity to grab a bookmark that has been designed and printed to provide to second grade students when we visit the classroom!
