Join us for CIBA’s 2025 July Field Day! Don Moody and his program committee are buzzed with excitement to be able to welcome you back to our organization's field day! Join us on Saturday, July 12th, for a CIBA Summer Field Day!

Pictured is one of the 2023 field day hand's on small group rotations during the morning - field day demonstrations and learning sessions!
The day includes a morning of hands-on, up-close-and-personal outdoor stations. The stations will be led by expert beekeepers. The afternoon features presentation by Scott Kent in the air-conditioned comfort of the main arboretum building.
This a FREE event is open to anyone so bring a friend!
We request that you register for this event by July 5th to ensure CIBA has enough lunch and break refreshments, and can plan appropriately for the entire event.
Wear your bee suit and be ready to have fun! Proceeds from CIBA’s successful Winter Seminar are being used to defray costs. This is also a great opportunity to join CIBA for half price and become part of a worthwhile organization!

Speaker Bios
Scott Kent
Scott was raised in Clarke County and attended Northwest Missouri State University, where he earned a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. After college Scott worked as a Park Technician for Clarke County Conservation for three years. Then for 16 years Scott raised and managed whitetail deer on a deer breeding farm. He’s served on the Board of Directors for both the North American Deer Farmers Association and the Iowa Whitetail Deer Association. Scott was known across the nation for his presentations on whitetail deer health and genetics. In 2016 Scott became the Director of the Clarke County Conservation Board. Scott has been keeping bees since 2011 with his first hive being a cutout from a cedar tree. In 2016 Scott and a colleague started the Southern Iowa Hive Handlers, a local bee group for beekeeper to gather and share ideas. Scott has always been fascinated by swarms and even named his honey business Swarm Chasers Honey LLC. Scott currently runs around 50 hives with most of them coming from swarms in the area. Scott also enjoys hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Scott and his wife, Lorie, have two sons.

Protective bee gear to your liking, as we will be working with bee hives, and you will have opportunity for hand's on experience!

Water/beverages/water bottles for taking outside to the station

Sunscreen, hats, for sun protection, as needed.

No need to bring lunch or snacks! CIBA will be providing both!
